a desk of one's own
I need a desk. Can you help me? I need a desk that is pretty, functional, reasonably priced, can double as a nightstand and doesn't have a bunch of drawers for me to fill up with nonsense. Now that I have both girls sharing a bedroom, there is an extra bedroom in our house that needs to function as a guest room slash-office, and since I have an actual work-from-home-job, I desperately need a space that I can work from that is not the kitchen counter or the dining room table.
I also like the idea of closing the door and not working while I'm trying to do my other very important MOM duties. Conversely, having a space where I can focus on work and not be distracted by everything going on in the house will be fab. Lastly, I think my waistline will benefit from me not being stationed in the kitchen all day long.
Here are some desks I'm considering:

2. via
3. via
4. via
I originally chose option 4. I like that it's low key, minimalist but also a has some pizazz. But... I didn't pull the trigger, and lately I've been leaning toward option 1. A little warmer, but still a lot of style. Option 2 is out of my budget, but so nice to look at, and option 4 is great because it's a blank canvas (plus it's the cheapest, so it would free up some dollars to spend on a great chair....)
What do you think? Where do you do most of your work? And do you have any tips for organizing a work-from-home workspace?
So long as you write what you wish to write, that is all that matters; and whether it matters for ages or only for hours, nobody can say.

LOVE 2. But agree that's one pricey desk. My second choice would be 3, and I never would have guessed it was from ikea from the pic. Curious which one you end up with...YBS
ReplyDeleteThank you Em! I am going to go to IKEA (lord, help me) and check check out option 3 in person. I also saw a IKEA hack where the legs were spray-painted gold; an interesting option! ZLAM, YLS
