The candelabra in this picture is a little baffling. They did have electricity and light bulbs in the 1960s, didn't they?
Moving on- I love everything else about this photo and quote.
- encouraging children to love books- not just read them.
- when you are little, the world seems enormous- but it shrinks pretty quickly if you stop learning. books keep your world big in a good way.
- reading a child a bedtime story looks pretty much the same as what you see here, doesn't it? I find that oddly comforting.
I love that Caroline works hard at keeping her mother's passion for reading alive by creating her own books of poetry. That little wide-eyed girl in the ruffled nightgown must have been paying attention to her mamma...
