how do you deaux?

I am the kind of person who really needs the structure of a to-do list. Without one I wind up at Publix 3 times a day, and I consistently forget to pay the cable bill. My challenges with to do lists are as follows:
  • High tech iPhone apps: Nifty but complicated. I don't really want to decide if buying milk is a high, semi-high, medium, low or really low priority. I just want milk.
  • Cute little notebooks to keep in my bag: These used to work out well for me, but now my older daughter inevitably finds it, uses it as a coloring book and then gives it to my younger daughter who promptly sticks it between two couch cushions.
  • The computer: Eh. It's fine for computer-based tasks, but I can't update it or cross things off on the go.
  • Piece of paper: Really obvious, right? Except as soon as I finish one it vanishes into thin air and is reincarnated five days later as a soggy mess in the washing machine.
I spotted the Teaux Deaux list app on a terrific blog for anyone looking to simplify. The browser version is free; the iPhone app is $2.99. It's basically an upgraded piece of paper. There's a bare minimum of bells and whistles; you just enter tasks and cross them off. You can add tasks to a future date and keep a running "Someday" list with items like visit Spain or learn how to cook. You can't schedule recurring tasks, but their hilarious FAQ page says it's a feature they might add.

How do you create to do lists?

  1. I am a CRAZY to-do lister TOO! I usually write them on paper, but then I find myself rewriting them over-and-over-and-over again. I am excited to try this new app.. because I need something simple, and something that I can never lose! My memory is not good enough :)

    Great post girl!!

  2. When my children were little, I used to keep a write-on/wipe-off board (like the ones we used to put on our dorm room doors) on the wall in my kitchen. That way, if they all took a nap at the same time, I didn't have to strain my brain trying to remember what needed to be done next.
The app looks cool, but in what part of the world is teaux deaux pronounced the same as "to do"?

    1. Hah! Chuck was annoyed by the spelling, too. Maybe LSU? But you're right- technically "teaux deaux" would be "toe dough" :)
