beach, poolside

Did anyone else feel like this 5 day week was 9 days long? T!G!I!F!

This is a super quick post to tell you how heavenly this Bath and Body Works candle is. Random, yes- but if you love the Copper-tone-y lemon-y fantasticness that is the Beach by Bobbi Brown perfume, then you should get this candle and light it while you listen to the Drifters on Pandora, paint your nails in Essie Watermelon and make a couple pitchers of beer margaritas. Yes, I live in South Florida where it's always either "summer" or SUMMER- but you could do all of these activities in the midst of a blizzard. And you should.

P.S. Listen, peel the label off of that candle; it will look so much better.

November wish list

When you change one thing, you have to change everything, right? We need new throw pillows, so when I started looking from some I realized we also need a new rug in my daughter's room, and it would be nice to have a new mirror as well. Also, glitter nail polish. Like how I snuck that in there?

Caitlin Wilson's blog and online boutique has some gorgeous pillows and fabric. These might be a tiny bit feminine for my husband's taste- but with two daughters and a wife, he is doesn't have much of a case against pink.

The original POOLS by Kelly Klein is now a collectors item and a first edition sells for $900ish dollars on Amazon. We have a copy (sadly not a first edition) and it never fails to captivate guests. Plus it's ginormous and looks good on a coffee table. I don't know what more can possibly said about JBKO, but don't worry I intend to find out! The wine stopper is from the much anticipated AERIN line by Estee Lauder's grand-daughter, and the driving loafers are my absolute favorite shade of watermelon-pink.

plaid + stripes

Would you wear plaid and stripes together? I would!
I think the right mix of patterns can look adorable if you anchor it with neutral accessories.
This outfit would also look terrific with a
navy crewneck or cardigan sweater so you see just a hint of plaid.

cheerful: pink and blue

It's still hot hot hot here in Florida, so while all the blazers and corduroys and riding boots are fun to look at they aren't really a wardrobe reality for me. I'm obsessed with this cheerful Lilly Pulitzer elephant print, and here are  all the fun accessories I'd add.
Also, speaking of cheerful: Gretchen Rubin's new book Happier at Home is fantastic. I'm about halfway through it, and I think it is every bit as insightful and
optimistic as her first book about happiness The Happiness Project.
